Rosecutgarden

Its now the end of our first Rose flush, and as we dead head and wait for the next flowering, our cut garden is beginning to come into its own. The Scabiosa Pods are a blaze,  I’m getting to the stage that when I close my eyes all I see are Scabiosa Pods! I adore their texture and colour, they look so scrummy with pinks, creams, apricots…well every colour really.
My other love at the moment are Dinner plate sized Dahlia flowers, We have a beautiful creamy one flowering at the moment and I can’t get enough of these beauties, I often find myself face first in them, If someone came up from behind, they may think I was making out with a Dahlia, what can I say I love flowers!

THE WEEK THAT WAS

twtw6

The first pick of the season!
So I guess its officially the beginning of the season, though I feel that started a month ago, no flowers to pick but we’ve been non stop tending to everything. Its great to finally start picking, those long winter months are now a distant memory and I can now stop to smell the roses again!!!

WINTER

IMG_0227

Its winter, its cold and I can’t really do much but wait and draw millions of plans for my ever growing cut garden.
I always find myself being over ambitious about my garden in the winter, as my plans grow bigger and bigger and my list of new plants grows even faster, I seem to forget that each one of these little guys needs to be weeded, watered, feed, and protected from aphids, slugs and my biggest nemesis the Stink Bug. But I’m convinced myself I can do it!…Well its to late to turn back now, the orders have been placed, and as I open up each box of goodies, I grow even more anxious for the arrival of Spring!

CUT FLOWER GARDEN

cutg

My cut garden is nearly in full flight and I seem to find myself out there everyday either picking from it or tending to it. Its been such a rewarding season, especially when you compare it to last years season. I think my favorite flower this year is my apricot FoxGlove, its so beautiful I cant bring myself to pick it, I just go out everyday and admire it….ahhh yummy apricot foxglove you complete me.
So this year has been a trial year to see who loves growing in my soil, next year I’m going big…Im spreading out into the field, its going to be a lot of hard work but so gorgeous!

IT’S A FIELD OF ROSES..HUH FUNNY THAT

IMG_5971

So this was taken on November 5th, We all had little bets on when the roses would be out and my money was on November 5th. Ive been noting this date for many years now, counting down to the day when the garden is in full bloom. So not all the roses were out but I think it was close enough to call it a win…don’t you think.
